New Car Tax 2025 Changes. New electric and zero emission vehicles registered on or after 1 april 2025 with the list price exceeding £40,000 will attract the standard rate, plus the expensive car. Seven alterations to car tax and vehicle excise duty (ved) are on the horizon.

New car tax changes will see petrol and diesel drivers pay thousands more to use the roads in a major price hike. Any new electric, zero or low emission cars registered on or after april 1, 2025, will need to pay the lowest first year rate of vehicle tax set at £10 from 1 april 2025.
